Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree

The Princess had her annual Christmas dance recital.

The lady who owns the studio told us this was their

Christmas present to us.

Handyman and I laughed because we paid for our own present.

But to see the shy, but confident smile

on the Princess' face and to see all of her hard work

was definately worth it.

I don't have a fancy video camera that lets me post video,

but my friend Morgan does.

A friend of mine was reading to me

out of a health magazine this week.

It said you can burn 500 calories by dancing only 2 hours.

Really? Who has 2 hours to devote to dancing?

It also said if you tidy your house for 2 hours

you can burn over 500 calories.

In that case, I'm pretty sure I should be

burning more calories than I take in.

Therefore, I should be skinnier than I am.

I'm not convinced they have their facts straight.

Wasatch Back

So I realize that I'm oh, let's see

6 MONTHS LATE

on this post,

but I had such a good time

doing the Ragnar Relay,

it's something I don't want to forget.

The Wasatch Back is a

187.9 mile race

through the beautiful roads of the

back side of the Wasatch Mountains.

The fam decided to put together a 12 man team this year.

We love our Mama and are so glad she's still with us,

so we decided to run for

colon cancer research.

"Runs in the Wasatch beat cancer in the colon."

I had a great time with these fine ladies.

We came in 201 out of 400+ teams in under 24 hours

Fly boy finished us off with an awesome sprint at the end.

Counting Down the Days

until our Grandma Hill comes to visit.

Dedication or Stupidity?

I went running today on this fine snowy Saturday.

To the unassuming eye it would appear that those are soft, delicate snowflakes. However, in my eagerness to exercise outside, by myself I discovered that they were really little white BBs in disguise, pelting my red, swollen face in the bone chilling cold. But I did it. I ran all three miles. So was it dedication, or stupidity? I'm leaning toward stupidity.

Everytime I put mascara on this girl I get a little jealous.

She is seriously going to be hated one day for her long, luscious

eye lashes.

At every house we went to he said, "I need one for my mom".

I'm 99.9% sure he did it out of genuine love for his mother,

but you have to wonder if he just figured out how to get more candy.

In the beginning she was upset at each house we went to

because we made her put her candy in her bag,

but she soon caught on.

She squealed with delight at every door.

Pamela's Baking Mix

A few months ago a lady in my ward gave me a few bags of this mix that she didn't need. I guess I was skeptical to use it because so many gluten free mixes don't turn out so swell. I shouldn't have waited so long! It made tasty pancakes and I finally had a really yummy bicuit. I actually had a good excuse to use jam!

When we went to storytime at the library today

we saw a fire truck in the parking lot. At our house that's pretty cool.

What was even more cool were the fire fighters who came to storytime to teach about fire safety!

Hogle Zoo

The zoo today was a zoo! Seriously, why doesn't the whole state of Utah take fall break the same weekend? I thought today would be the perfect day, completely forgetting that half the state was off of school.

On Sunday Handy Man was trying to explain to the Princess that the sacrament is when we receive the bread and water. It is a time to be reverent and to fold our arms and think about Jesus.

Her reply: "little kids don't do that".

First Day of School

Lake Powell 2009

We had a great time this year at Lake Powell with our good friends the Lewis's and our amazing Grandma and Grandpa who we can't thank enough for everything they do.

The spiders were HUGE.

We saw Rainbow Bridge.

With the help of our very talented, in house profesional tooth extractor the Princess lost her first tooth!

Mr T turned 3!

and even caught a fish with his new fishing pole.

Since every Lake Powell trip has to have a story to tell, we're taking a vote. While on our way back from Rainbow Bridge, Sys was laying her head on the bow of the boat. We hit a wave and she smacked her face, completely severing her frenulum (the tendon between your upper lip and gums). She'll be fine and there is no perminant damage. So what's the vote? Does she look more like a chipmunk or a Who?

The Princess learned to ride her bike a couple of months ago, but she was very unsteady and she hated it. Last week I made her get back on and try again. Now I can't get her off her bike and she's even doing tricks!

About a year and a half ago Handy Man tore our basement apart to do some remodeling. Because time and money do not grow on any of the local trees it has been a slow process, though progress has been made. As part of the remodel the kids will be getting a new play room (yay, no more toys covering the kitchen floor!). The Princess has been feeling very anxious lately about getting the job done and has been offering her help. Tonight she made a list of the things Handyman still needs to finish the job.
